Unfortunately, poverty and unemployment in the U.S. are increasing, and women are in the thick of it.

The New York Times recently reported the following from the latest, U.S. Census information:

The official poverty line for a family of four is $22,314 per year. That is $1,860 per month. In numbers alone, there are more women living in poverty than men.

Out of the estimated 46,215,956 people in the U.S. living below the poverty line, approximately 25 million of them are women and 21 million are men. And women in poverty outnumbered those of the Hispanic population, black population, Asians, elderly, and those under age 17.

What's the good news, especially for women?

Stacey B. was a mother living on welfare. By applying the Rich Woman and Rich Dad principles, she now owns a medical practice and nine rental-properties.

Rowena R. is a single mom and housekeeper in London. She is an overseas worker and sends the money she makes back to her family in the Philippines. Long story short, by putting a little financial education into practice today, she owns nineteen rental units and isn't stopping there.
