It is certainly unprecedented times.
As a leader today, your strategy right now will determine the future. Some people will do nothing. They'll be panicked and they'll be stymied by fear.
That's not going to work.
Your leadership abilities now will pay off later if you do what I'm about to tell
you right now. Go over the lessons in my book Sales Dogs and please do these following actions:
-
Bring Your Tribe Together
Repeat after me: “I am a leader.”
Your first job is to bring your tribe together. Don't even think of them as a team anymore. Think of them as a tribe. Your job is to be the calm in the eye of the storm.
Tell yourself, I am always calm and pull my team together.
Whether your tribe is 3 people, 5 people, 5,000 or even 50,000 people, bring them together.
You are the leader. Protect them. Take care of them.
Don't give them handouts, but be there to...
-
Teach
Teach your tribe via open lines of communication. Nobody should be left out in the cold. When times are difficult, people get depressed; they go into isolation, which is the worst thing that you can do. That's when you need to reach out to your team and get their support. Communicate with people to bring your energy up.
-
Watch your Little Voice
I know there's pressure on you. “Can I do this? Am I able to help them? What should I do and all that?”. If you can manage your little voice, you can teach them to manage theirs.
-
Fight Confusion
Confusion is a normal state and a lot of people just run around in circles, unfocused. They think because they're doing something, it's better than doing nothing but not much.
If you're confused and you're driving a car and you don't know where you are, stop the car.
Ask for help. Get out a map. Take a look at where you are.
See, as a leader you need to not only do this for you, but you need to teach other people to do this.
Laugh. Coach them a little bit. Kick them in the ass a little bit. Put a virtual arm around him if you need to.
-
Fight To Stay Calm
There's a tendency for your team to want to get angry or go steal toilet paper or do something stupid like that. Make sure that you have a daily routine that includes gratitude. Write down 10 things you're grateful for every morning. Take five minutes and meditate. Be in solitude. Just pray. Whatever it is you need to do to get centered, get oriented.
Get outside and get some Vitamin D from the sunshine.
Write down your wins for the day. Every single win you can think of. The fact that you're still healthy and happy. Did you get your loved ones around you? The fact that you're a leader, then people respect you. Whatever it is, make a full list and that's the last thing you do before you go to bed.
-
Don’t Conserve, Double Down
One of the mistakes that people make in business as they go into conserve and seizure mentality. When markets are crashing, they try to pull up. The drawbridge is the wrong decision right now. Double down. Work harder, but work smarter and do it by supporting other people. Market yourself.
Don't worry so much about the money right now. I know the money is tight, but support people. You market yourself by helping other people however you can. If you've got a marketing budget, don't stop promoting. Promote, promote, promote.
Say these three affirmations
- I am responsible. Repeat.
- I am always calm.
- I’ve got this. Say it again

Everything Will Work Out
Everything works out as long as the bumblebee does what it's supposed to do and stays in motion. You need to stay in motion and DO what you are supposed to do. The ripple effect of ones actions is all good for the bumblebee and good for the whole planet.
Follow these steps.
You have been training for your whole life for this.
There is an Aboriginal cultural belief that you have to train very hard all of your life because one day the great spirit guide or the universe would call upon you for an important task. That is now and that's you -- truly.
You doing these things will not only help you, not only help your team, but it's going to help our planet more than anything else. Our planet depends on you. It depends on you being the great you leader that you are.
