It’s 2019! The perfect time to reflect on the previous year and to start planning your business goals to make this year a success.

When talking to other entrepreneurs, I notice that we all have one big goal in common: growth. And we all know that it takes a clear vision and plan to make growth happen. That’s why I want to share some of my techniques for growing a successful company.

There’s a time and place for advice. Know when to take it or leave it.

There are going to be people who tell you what you should do with your business. It’s not a bad thing to have advice thrown your way, but you shouldn’t always apply what you hear. If you always let people influence your decisions, you might end up doing something that doesn’t cater to your business. You should know your business better than anyone, so make sure that the decisions you make are realistic for you and your business.

“Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.” – John F. Kennedy

I think that the word “negotiate” gets a bad reputation. People look at it as a negative or something to be feared, or that there is always something to be lost with negotiating. But what I do know is that negotiation exists to make sure that both parties get something they want or can live with. It exists to make sure that there isn’t a losing party.

Negotiation is a strong tool to have as a business owner. You might not think you’ll ever use it but trust me, you will. Whether its negotiating with an employee who wants a higher wage, bidding for lower prices on goods or services, establishing new partnership agreements, etc. Knowing how to negotiate can save you money and help your business grow.

Have a Clear Vision

You don’t know where you’re going if you don’t have a clear vision. And if you have employees in your company, more than likely, they don’t know where they’re going or what they’re doing. It’s like the expression “the blind leading the blind”.

If you want your business to grow and be successful, you have to have a clear vision on what your definition of success is, and then make goals to get there. That way there are objectives and tangible goals that you and your employees can reach and accomplish.

Celebrate Accomplishments

There is going to be failure. Every business owner in existence has experienced failure at one point or another. That’s why it’s important to celebrate the wins, no matter how big or small. Think of it as motivation to make it to the big win (whatever that may be for you). Use these small celebrations to push you to reach all your goals.

Brand new year = brand new opportunity! Don’t miss it!
